Kathy Newman

Tap, Modern & Cheerleading  Teacher

Kathy started Ballet training at age 6 in South Australia, and also went on to Callisthenics,  Modern and Drill Dance, and Tap.  She registered with the FATD as an Elementary Graduate and has taught Eisteddfod and concert routines, AFL performance shows and other local performances for both ‘The Dance Theatre’ in Hobart, and ‘Darwin Dance & Drama Academy’ in the Northern Territory.
Kathy was a team member of the Australian Dance and Drill Team from  1990-1997 and performed at F1 Grand Prix functions, SA Police Band, SANFL football half-time shows and Adelaide Christmas Pageants. Annual auditions to remain in the team were mandatory. Kathy has represented Australia with the Australian Dance & Drill Team, touring America & Hawaii in 1992 and performing in the opening and closing performances at the 25th American Drill & Dance Competitions in Los Angeles.
Kathy also danced with the team in Nagoya, Japan, at the International Dance & Drill Competitions (1993, 1994) and retained World Champions title both years.
Kathy was a dancer with the Adelaide Promotional Dance Team, and was  a professional cheerleader for the Adelaide Rams Rugby Super League.
Other cheerleading jobs include: Adelaide 36’s Basketball Team, Norwood Football Club, Chiefs Grid-Iron Club and Ravens Netball League.
In 2019 Kathy trained with the Dance Health Alliance Team and is an Endorsed and Certified Teacher focusing on dancers with movement restrictions.  Kathy has a wealth of experience to pass onto students and we are delighted to have her as part of the Centre Stage team.
